ด่านสิงขร

     เป็นจุดผ่อนปรนพิเศษชายแดนระหว่างประเทศไทยและเมียนมา ตั้งอยู่ในเขตตำบลคลองวาฬ อำเภอเมืองประจวบคีรีขันธ์ จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ด่านแห่งนี้มีความสำคัญมาตั้งแต่อดีตในฐานะเส้นทางการค้าและเส้นทางเดินทัพในสมัยโบราณ และยังเป็นจุดที่แคบที่สุดของประเทศไทย โดยมีระยะห่างระหว่างชายฝั่งอ่าวไทยและชายแดนเมียนมาเพียง 12 กิโลเมตร

ที่ตั้งและความสำคัญ:

     ด่านสิงขรตั้งอยู่ในตำบลคลองวาฬ ห่างจากตัวเมืองประจวบคีรีขันธ์ไปทางทิศใต้ประมาณ 23 กิโลเมตร ด่านแห่งนี้ไม่ได้เป็นด่านถาวร แต่เป็นจุดผ่อนปรนการค้าที่สำคัญ ซึ่งเปิดโอกาสให้ชาวไทยและเมียนมาสามารถแลกเปลี่ยนสินค้าและวัฒนธรรมกันได้

กิจกรรมและสินค้าที่ดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยว:

     กิจกรรมหลักของที่นี่คือการเยี่ยมชม ตลาดชายแดนด่านสิงขร ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งรวมสินค้าหลากหลายชนิดจากทั้งสองประเทศ นักท่องเที่ยวจะได้สัมผัสบรรยากาศการค้าชายแดนที่คึกคัก สินค้าที่ได้รับความนิยม ได้แก่:

• สินค้าจากไม้และเฟอร์นิเจอร์: มีการจำหน่ายเฟอร์นิเจอร์ไม้แกะสลักและของตกแต่งบ้านที่สวยงามจากเมียนมา

• กล้วยไม้และต้นไม้ประดับ: มีกล้วยไม้ป่าและพืชพรรณต่าง ๆ ให้เลือกซื้อมากมาย

• อาหารและสินค้าท้องถิ่น: ทั้งอาหารทะเลแปรรูป (เช่น ปลาหมึกแห้ง), ผลิตภัณฑ์ทางการเกษตร และอาหารพื้นเมือง

• หัตถกรรมและเครื่องประดับ: สินค้าทำมือ เสื้อผ้าพื้นเมือง และเครื่องประดับต่าง ๆ

วันและเวลาทำการ:

     ตลาดด่านสิงขร เปิดทุกวัน โดยส่วนใหญ่จะเปิดตั้งแต่เวลา 08:00 น. – 18:00 น. แต่วันที่คึกคักเป็นพิเศษคือ วันเสาร์และวันอาทิตย์ เนื่องจากมีพ่อค้าแม่ค้าและนักท่องเที่ยวจำนวนมากมาเยือน

Singkhon Pass 

     Singkhon Pass is a special temporary border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar, located in the Khlong Wan sub-district of Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. Historically, it was a crucial trade and military route. It is also the narrowest point of Thailand, with only a 12-kilometer distance separating the Gulf of Thailand from the Myanmar border.

Location and Significance:

     Singkhon Pass is situated within Khlong Wan sub-district, approximately 23 kilometers south of Prachuap Khiri Khan city. While it is not a permanent checkpoint, it serves as a significant trade concession point, allowing for the exchange of goods and culture between Thai and Myanmarese people.

Activities and Attractions:

     The main attraction is the Singkhon Border Market, a vibrant hub for a wide range of goods from both countries. Tourists can experience the bustling atmosphere of cross-border trade and find a variety of popular products:

• Wooden Products and Furniture: Beautifully carved wooden furniture and home decor from Myanmar are a major draw.

• Orchids and Plants: A large variety of wild orchids and other unique ornamental plants are available for sale.

• Food and Local Products: You can find processed seafood (such as dried squid), agricultural products, and local delicacies.

• Handicrafts and Jewelry: Handmade goods, traditional textiles, and various accessories are popular souvenir items.

Opening Days and Hours:

     The Singkhon Border Market is open every day, typically from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, it is especially lively and crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, when the market is at its busiest with a greater number of vendors and visitors.
